What is audiotoggle?
A browser-based A/B audio comparison tool. Two versions of a track play in sync, and holding one button (or the space bar) switches between them instantly, on the same beat. It is built for comparing mixes, masters, edits and processing chains by ear, and for sharing that comparison with one link.
Is audiotoggle free?
Yes. The compare tool is free with no account. A free account adds up to 3 shared comparisons with files up to 50 MB. Pro costs €9 a month or €84 a year and adds 50 projects, the embeddable player, play analytics, player themes and saved level matching and alignment. Don’t feel like paying? That’s fine: delete comparisons you’re done with and keep working within your 3 free slots, for as long as you like.
Are my files uploaded when I use the compare tool?
No. The free compare tool plays both files straight from your device in the browser; nothing is sent to a server. Files are only uploaded when you save a comparison to your account to share it.
Does audiotoggle change or compress my audio?
No. Files play exactly as they were uploaded, bit for bit, on every plan including Free: nothing is transcoded or re-encoded. Level matching is a playback gain only, and alignment only changes where each file starts playing.
Why should I level-match an A/B comparison?
Because the louder version almost always sounds better, even when it is not. audiotoggle can match the two by integrated loudness (LUFS, ITU-R BS.1770) or let you trim each track in decibels, so the comparison is about tone and balance rather than volume.
Can I compare a remix with the original, or versions with different intros?
Yes. Align & trim lines up two versions whose shared parts sit at different times: drag one waveform against the other, or let auto-align find the offset from the music. You can also trim both to the passage you want to compare.
Which audio formats does it support?
WAV, MP3, FLAC, AIFF, OGG, M4A and AIF. Lossless files stay lossless: playback is never transcoded.
Can I put the A/B player on my own website?
Yes, on Pro. Publish a comparison and copy its iframe snippet: the player appears on your site, store page or course in your accent colour and theme, and you can see how often it is played and switched.
Do listeners need an account to hear a shared comparison?
No. Anyone with the link opens it in the browser and holds the button, the space bar, or on a phone simply tips it toward them to switch to B. There is nothing to install.
